Indeed, it does seem cool.
Google offers one, called Google Clipboard, I think. Its completely web-based, autosaves, and can be acessed anywhere.Posted 17 years ago # -
You can also capture and collect webpage excerpts with Evernote. http://www.evernote.com/en/
It is freeware and has a Firefox, Thunderbird and IE web clipper extension. It has also an universal web clipper.Posted 17 years ago # -
Also definitely worth a look - clipmarks (For FF, IE, and Flock)
A combination mini snapshot of webpages - and social bookmarking. (not the same as surfulater or evernote)Posted 17 years ago # -
I have been using Surfulator for almost a year now (I won a free license for it in the monthly drawing at donationcoder.com)
Not only will it save the selected content of a page, it will also automatically attach a screenshot and has the ability to attach the original page and other attachments as well. It works with all IE based browsers, including ones like Maxthon. It also works with Firefox 2. (it doesn't work with opera...yet)
It is a very good program and has a number of cool uses. I have a knowledge base just for recipes which acts as my own personal cookbook, one for code snips, one for general stuff, one for blog articles, one for all the programs I download, one for lyrics, etc.
What I especially like is how it's not just for clipping. You can edit the saved content and create stuff from scratch in it as well. This is perfect for doing research or adding your own notes to pages you save, or just editing out the crap you don't want to save.
And unlike an online service like Google or Clipmarks, this is all kept on your hard drive where everything is private and not exposed to the public. So you can save whatever you want and edit it and add notes in any way you desire without privacy worries.
This is a program that is being actively developed and constantly improving. The developer cares about it and can often be seen discussing it and answering questions about it on forums. He also listens to users and adds the features they want. (search donationcoder.com forum for user: nevf)
Even if GAOTD can't get this program, it is definitely worth trying...and buying. If I had not won a free copy I would have eventually purchased it any way.
