   PC Pro staff even managed to register an Outlook.com alias in the name of Steve Ballmer.

   The Outlook.com preview will run alongside Hotmail for now, but when the preview ends, this will be the replacement for all Hotmail and Live Mail users.

   Blog has lots of info on signing up too, including using an existing acct. & creating an outlook.com alias. I signed in using one of my Microsoft acct.s [I've never had a hotmail address], & was able to almost instantly set up an alias with its own folder etc.

   In the blog they ask you to use your existing acct(s) & to create aliases rather than starting out fresh with a new acct at outlook.com. I've no idea whether they reserve hotmail or other acct addresses, e.g. *ThisName*@whatever.com, but the 4 letter name I usually try to use was taken -- that itself is odd enough that I'll be going through my old accts in the password mgr I've got/use in XP Pro, seeing if I can find a Microsoft or related ID using it. If I confirm anything I'll post it.
