   The activate.exe file won't work. I keep getting the "buy now/free trial" window. I had trouble unzipping these files; the "extract" function on Win 8.1 wouldn't work. I used a different unzip program, but still having trouble, especially with the activation. Help would be appreciated. Thanks

   Once you extract the files from PTPhotoEditor101.zip you should have setup.exe, readme.txt, Activate.exe, & Activate.gcd. The free 7-Zip should work fine -- http://www.7-zip.org/

   Once you run Activate.exe as admin, you should have a registry key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PT Photo Editor] -- it's only value is the registration or serial number key.

   If you don't have it it's possible that you don't have permission from Windows to add that key to the registry -- why I said to run as administrator -- or something like maybe security software is preventing activate.exe from running properly or adding that registry entry. If security software is involved, you might try running Activate.exe after booting into Safe Mode with Networking.
