I though it would be a quick an easy way of transferring documents and other files between the computers on my network rather than use the network function already provided by Windows.
If that's what you're after, trend seems to be on-line storage -- I use Dropbox but mainly because that's what came on the tablet running Android... Amazon or Microsoft alternatives might suit you better? I know Microsoft's got a lot of integration in that respect in win7, with more coming in win8. It really works pretty seamlessly -- I put whatever files/folders in the Dropbox folder, & it gets downloaded to the dropbox folder on the tablet, another PC & so on. It also has the benefit that whatever you store on-line is there 24/7 -- transferring over your network means both PCs for example have to be up, running, & available. *Might* want to give that sort of thing a look?
As far as problems with Beyond Share, if you want I can copy/paste my XP Pro install records into a PM? It doesn't add any drivers or anything, but [from registry entries] seems to use C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\msscript.ocx & C:\\Program Files\\Messenger\\msmsgs.exe -- don't know if the broken PC will go into safe mode to use Autoruns or Msconfig to stop Beyond Share from starting -- if not maybe boot to a WinPE type disc & try renaming one or both of those files?
