Installing anything almost always requires elevation. There may be one or two installers I have ever run that didn't, but by far, at least somewhere in the install process, I will get the inevitable UAC dialog requiring me to enter the admin password. I always wondered at troubleshooting directions here about trying to run setups as administrator because with the rare exception, *everything* is installed as administrator due to UAC elevation.
I wish I knew some way to stop this happening as this would solve so many issues with software registering only to the admin account, or installing start-menu icons only there. If the installer doesn't have to write anything to the system folder, or even to the protected program files (I usually install to a different folder) then why should it require elevation?
