Havent had much success downloading things from giveawayoftheday took me about 3/4 of an hour to download it and then kept getting error reports about netframework and after about 1 hour and a half it aborted and i got one your free games a few weeks ago and plenty of time the game turned out to be a trial with fifteen uses, Ive been visiting giveawayoftheday everyday and its the first time ive seen some software i wanted and it wouldnt install, not to successful hey

anyone willing to tell me what the difference is between Cleanse Uninstaller and a program like ccleaner? keeping in mind the fact that i'm not yet that computer literate, do they do the same thing, or would someone benefit from having both utilities? i just dl'd ccleaner yesterday and tried some of its more mudance functions (read no touchie-feelie with the registry!) and was very happy with the results. I am not as happy with the uninstall program that came with my XP Pro, and ccleaner does have an uninstall feature - would getting Cleanse Uninstaller (or any of the other uninstallers kicked around in today's comments section) be a redundancy on my part?

MemberCan some one tell me how to get the registration key. Even though I activated and installed the program correctly, if you go to "about" there is no registration key so I assume the software is trial only.
As for the difference between CCleaner and Cleanse - Cleanse is simply an uninstall program but a very good one. It cleans out registry keys related to the program and CCleaner only uninstalls the program. I have used Cleanse before and found it to be very good. I also use CCleaner as it cleans unnecessary files and Cleanse is just an uninstaller.

You do not need the registration key. After running the activate.exe program, your software is registered for you.
Many programs these days will not display the original registration code once registered - to prevent a casual observer or another user "stealing" your codes to install onto another computer.
If your copy of Cleanse is not registered you would definitely know about it - because on starting the program each time you would see This Screen displayed.

@ andrea01 - i didnt do anything to it ever since i activated it, until now when i open it. it is still version 2.5.

MemberI too have had trouble recently with this download. After activating and installing it, I used it regularly until recently, and found it did a great job. However I wanted to remove something recently but instead of the program running as normal, I got the screen shown in BuBBy's post above. It was the first time this screen had appeared all the time I've been using it.
I can no longer use the program, if I try to continue after the expiry screen appears, the program just shuts down.I would be pleased if somebody help me sort the problem out.

MemberAnother GAOTD program that is actually just trial ware. My program also has now 'mysteriously' expired.
What's the point of coming to GAOTD when most companies offer time limited trials free every day of the week? Do the companies that pull these underhanded tricks actually think we'll buy something from them after they've behaved so deceptively? Even if I liked the program, I would never trust the company or want to reward it with my hard earned cash.
I'm happily using Glary Utilities to uninstall this uninstaller (Glary offers so much more, anyways). And when I buy a new computer I'll buy Glary Utilities for it -- not this piece of crap.

MemberI have been using this program to uninstall programs since I downloaded here, and found it's very useful. Mine still works fine.
I would say, when accusing developers of deliberately time-limiting an offer, that they should be given the benefit of the doubt. When you think of all the different set-ups we've got, and the umpteen programs on our systems, then it would be a miracle if there weren't incompatibilities and problems from time to time.
I suspect the software firm have acted in good faith, and perhaps they should be given a chance to respond to problems of which they may not be aware.

Firstly when there are possibly thousands of users who download and run the giveaways and 2 or 3 mention that over a period of weeks the software stops working - it is typically going to be caused by the user or something that they have done or installed on their PC. They may deny it or say it was the software but software plays by a set of fixed rules.
When we all download the same program - and 2 days later no longer works on a handful of users PCs - this is probably not the fault of the program itself (naturally it gets the blame, because it is the software that has stopped working).
It is a different matter when software stops running for everybody on a fixed date (or x days after installation). Then it most certainly is a problem with the program.
To some users it might appear that programs GOTD give away don't keep working - because the only "problems" you hear about is for the handful of users who have a program "die". We don't have a section in these forums where people can just post, "yep. My programs are still working fine". If we did - I think you would find they vastly outnumber the handful who have dead programs. If I was able to take a closer look at their PC and windows setup, I'm fairly confident I could find other symptoms of dead or dying applications and problems that could contribute to applications "mysteriously" losing their activation settings.
So to state that developers who offer programs "on life support" that are designed to die for certain (although statistically insignificant) users is really not fair, and actually doesn't make sense. Their intention in participating with GOTD is to create a good impression, widespread awareness, and new customers. Distributing a "time bomb" program really seems contrary to this objective, doesn't it?
In the past when a program timed out (due to a programming bug) after being distributed, in all cases that I can remember - the developer provided an update or a new activation code or re-ran the giveaway to address the problems being experienced by all users.
Perhaps more likely, the user looks at their system and there experience and asks - "Everyone else seems to be still OK. Before I blame the developer, or GOTD - maybe it's something one of my other programs, or I did".

Glary utilities was never worth purchasing in my opinion, as there is already so much Free software available that does a better job.
So now Glary utilities is free (for private use). Probably the best thing they could've chosen to do (give it away). Now Glary utilities can compete on its merits (and features) instead of just getting smashed by the "price" vs "freeware" comparison.
