I only had drive backup 9 pro. when i tried to uninstall, i get error 1402 could not open key
Paragon software usually uses the Windows Installer. That installer unfortunately allows developers to screw up writing install routines, effecting other, innocent apps. Besides trying to avoid any apps using an .msi [Windows Installer] setup file [like the plague], I use an old Microsoft tool called Windows Install Cleanup to try & delete installer records in the registry that are giving problems -- the Fixit WR mentions *may* do the same thing... MS pulled the tool I mention from their web site over concerns it could cause problems in win7 [for me it's always worked as good, or as poorly as it's worked in XP & Vista] though you can still find it.
Alternatively *It May* be possible to install the Paragon GOTD manually... Paragon's apps don't have a complicated install -- generally installing their backup apps will add the program files, copy 3 files to Windows' system folder, & install the driver used to mount backup archives as a virtual hard drive partition. The program's folder often [usually] includes that driver setup as well -- using Universal Extractor on the app's .msi file, or copying the program's folder from a VM where it was installed, by using that driver setup I've even skipped the normal setup routine entirely... and if that driver wasn't a newer version than prior Paragon software I found I could skip that step. As far as version conflicts go, you've got that driver & you've got a file named prgiso.dll, one of 3 set for the system folder -- everything else is normally contained in the program's folder. Since it isn't registered with Windows I normally move prgiso.dll to the program folder anyway -- that makes it for the most part portable [you can't mount archives without an install].
And/or something else you could try... after backing up as necessary dive into the registry & start deleting install/uninstall entries for the backup 9 pro you've got installed -- it won't uninstall anyway so you're not out any functionality if you delete those keys. One or more of those keys is how the current installation routine knows to ask you to uninstall the older version 1st -- if it doesn't know 9's installed, it won't ask you to remove it.
Finally, you could always give the free version of 12 a try, seeing if that would work in addition to or instead. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/
