   OK, maybe I missed something...how are we supposed to activate StepShot?

   The zip file unpacks to a set up file and a separate activation module. Install the program then click on the brown colored activation module (has a key symbol on the icon). That should register your program.

   In general, "readme.txt" always has instructions for how to install/activate/register programs.

   When I downloaded the file, it was a EXE file, not a ZIP file. I realize that the ZIP file usually contains the README file, but the download wasn't a ZIP file...now what?

   I don't know from where you downloaded your file, the GOTD download is a zip like always.
   Check your download-folder or redownload.
