My daughter was given a 256mb MP3 player by her firm, so we downloaded some songs from Digirama to copy on to it. I used Windows Media 11 to sync both the downloaded stuff and some songs taken off existing cds, all in .wma format. However, the MP3 player won't recognise any of the tunes downloaded legally, citing DRM (Digital Rights Management) problems. All the ones ripped into WM11 then onto the player work well. So, I then burned the downloaded ones onto CD and they work fine. Can someone help me, how can I get the drm-loaded latest downloads onto her player, that is the sole reason we bought them, to put on her player. She can lug around a CD player, but that defeats the purpose. All the downloaded tunes are .wma format.

That's the nasty thing about DRM...it restricts the consumer from legally enjoying their legal tunes.
Now a simple solution would be to burn them and then rip them from the burned cd to .mp3. You might want to keep a rewritable disk around just for doing this if you plan on buying more tunes loaded with DRM crap..
I am sure there are tools out there that can unlock and defeat the DRM, but I am not sure if it would be wise to list/link to them here. (plus I don't know of any off-hand)
You could just say 'No' to DRM in the future and get music from some place like magnatune.com. It's not top 40 pop music, but it's legal and supports artists rather than record labels, and there is no DRM...and it's already in .mp3 format. They let you listen to entire albums online before you buy, too.
Another option is to visit the artist pages on myspace.com and get stuff from the ones that offer downloads. (it's free & legal) There is an entire free & legal download section on Last.fm, too.

Thank you very much app103 and BuBBy for your help. This is all new to me, but I will copy the cd onto my desktop and see if I can get them down to the MP3 player from there. I also went onto the site you mentioned BuBBy, and while I have downloaded the free copy I am a bit nervous about stuffing up my WMP11. However, I will backup and do a restore point and give it a go. I also very much like the look of the $14.90 shareware version, it looks simple and foolproof. Hey, its only money and we can't take it with us, and if it makes life easier, that's the way for me to go. We didn't buy the cds though, as my daughter would have only wanted one song on each of 10 cds, think of the cost of that. That makes $14.90 look like nothing! Thank you again for your responses, I really appreciate it.
