I have an HP All-In-One Deskjet printer. It's working fine. The printer driver is working fine.
However, all of a sudden, HP's "Solution Center" (which is where you access the printer and scanner) has decided I don't have any HP devices. HUH???? it prints like a charm (once I got over that Excel bug).
This failure has occurred sometime after late December which was the last time I tried the scanner.
A check on the HP site on the problem (well-known) says to uninstall and re-install the print driver. Under the circumstances, I don't want to do that for fear of the driver failing. I've tried their fixes and it gets to a certain point and then says I don't have a printer.
I've figured out how to do just about everything on the printer without that software except see the ink levels and that's not accurate anyway. I can use the MS Scanner with my Vista 32 but I don't really like it. It's far more limited than the HP scanner software, especially if I scan in a document rather than a picture..
I would like to find a FREE replacement for the lost HP software. Can anybody recommend something for me? I've learned that most of the software recommended here is pretty good quality so I feel confident in my "source" of help.
TIA!
