Hi, just lately I am having problems activating the Give away of the day software! When downloaded I click to load and then it says its waiting to activate. Then suddenly I just get 'Failed to connect please try again later.' If this was a one off then fine, but this is happening all the time now. Any ideas why this is? I am sure its something to do with either security from Comodo or Microsoft security possibly? Or could it be Firefox? I have gone through the blocked security setting and can't see anything. So completely puzzled where to look

Hi, Tony.
Try unchecking "Work offline" in your InternetExplorer since the activation process always uses M$ IE to do its validationsPosted 12 years ago # -
Thanks for the info. I had to search for Windows IE and found it eventually! I checked the work of line and noting is ticked. So I am quite flummoxed as to where to go from here???

Check the FAQ's in the game discussion forums (in the sticky). You may find a fix there. I've not tidied it up yet and there are more fixes to add, but not had the time.
Try rebootng your modem and deleting the giveaway cookies from your internet cache.

Download, install and start TCPEye V1.0
You'll now have a list of all open ports in a window. Open Explorer and navigate to the current Setup.exe or Activate.exe download and run the program. You should see a new port open in TCPEye to 208.88.224.199 :80
If you see the new port then there's nothing wrong on your end. Try activating again later when the network isn't as busy.
If you don't see the port, then something in your system is blocking it so make sure that you've done everything listed in the 5th post of this Frequently Asked Questions. Since you use Firefox making sure IE is not set to "Work Offline", as was pointed out above, is particularly important.

Tony-photoplus,
This happened to me one time before because of Zone Alarm firewall program. I temporarily inactivated Zone Alarm (before running GOTD installation process), but this did not help. It was only after I completely uninstalled Zone Alarm (using Revo Uninstaller) that things went back to normal, and I was able to download/install GOTD programs again. Some firewall software are very aggressive in blocking such installations and, although I'm not recommending you uninstall your firewall program, I am suggesting that, perhaps, your firewall program may be causing this problem.
