I was hoping to use this for removing clips from TV shows recorded with Windows Media Center. It comes up with an error message "Can't render an audio stream". Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi AHarris,
It seems you just have not an appropriated audio codec installed on your PC.
Are you able to playback with sound the file by means of Windows Media Player?
And what is the type of your file?Posted 17 years ago # -
If you need CODEC's. I recommend the KLite CODEC Pack. It is a free download.

Yes, I am able to play them through Windows Media Player. I believe the complete file type is dvr-ms file.

When I installed VLC media player, it installed xvid, divx, and a bunch of other codecs. If all else fails, see if VLC will install codecs for you.

Hello,
If I need to reinstall the software (after formatting for example), is the activation will function ? Need I Backup a file to save the activation ?Posted 17 years ago # -
If it'll play in Windows Media Player, shouldn't that mean I already have the correct codec to play it here too? This codec pak ........... where does it put these? Does it make it usable in all media players?

AHarris: I'm not sure where the codecs are installed to. But it is usable in most media players as they are standard windows codecs from my understanding.

I installed what I thought were the codecs for dvr-ms files. I still don't get sound with the same error message ......... "Can't render an audio stream". One thing I didn't mention originally is that when you try to open that type of file and "browse" to the directory it doesn't show up as a file type. I have to hit "All Files" from the drop down list for these to appear.

AHarris,
You mentioned your files are dvr-ms. Unfortunately SolveigMM Video Splitter does not support ones, it supports (AVI/WMV/ASF/WMA/MP3).
Nevertheless one of forthcoming features will allow such files editing. Keep an eye on SolveigMM news.Best Regards,

Desmond,
First open a file, it can be (AVI/WMV/ASF/WMA/MP3).
Then set markers, creating fragments you want to cut or keep.
To cut a fragment, push "thumb down" button.
Then push "Trim button". Out file has to be created in a couple of minutes.Take a look at the guide may help you:

Darkman, thanks for your response. It wasn't the answer I was hoping for but it put an end to alot of searching and wasted time on the net to get it to work for these kinds of files. I'm sure I will get alot of use out of the program the way it stands anyway.
