When I click to play the game...it goes to playrix screen, then black screen and just sits there until I hit my windows key, then it tells me it has encountered a problem and needs to close. Will this clear up, do I re-download it or what? Thank you in advance!

Games GuruHi Teri, have you checked my review over in the comments section? you can find it HERE I always post a problems section that usually will give you advice on most problems related to the games we get from the game giveaway.
If none of those can fix it let me know and i'll see if I can figure something out. Someone else had the same problem tohugh offhand i can't remember whether it was solved. I need to go to bed for a while as I'm shattered.

Games GuruTeri, just seen a reply from a user that had exactly the same problem as you. they tried the suggestion I made to GMMan about using Game booster. That would suggest you have too many background programs running and that the game wont run becasue there isn't enough memory. you can download Game booster from HERE. It's totally free. If you've been downloading giveaways for some time you may actually have the pro version of Game Booster, which was given away last year.
when running it will automtically shut down all system services that are not required, plus you can configure it to shut down other stuff, such as for example any of the giveaways you may have intalled that start up whenever you turn your computer on.
Please let us know if it worked. :)

Over in the comments, there was a suggestion to change settings.xml. HOW? I can't get that file to edit. I can look at it but how do I edit it?

Campy, I made a copy of it and tried just what you said. It didn't have a choice for "edit" but gave me an error. With hubby's help, I got it figured out. I just opened (not edit) with C++ and it worked!

MemberGlad you got it working. Edit must work differently on your system. I am using Win7 and edit opened the file in notepad where I could make the changes. "Open with" is a good option. For anyone else having this problem that doesn't have C++, you might want to try "open with" and then either open in notepad or wordpad. Either one of those should allow you to make the changes and save them.

It works great and does seem to definitely be "Collector's Edition". I don't get anything under Wallpapers and Bonus Levels tells me all 90 levels are locked. I have to complete my farm update before that they are released.
However, there was one downside. Key - make this fix as soon as you can after you get the game. I retained my level in the game but LOST ALL MY UPGRADES! I had to re-buy everything from the beds to the fountain to fence to everything else. I had last purchased the bench (I think) and I have to get that far again. I even had to find and name the dog again. It's not a big deal but that's a lot of wasted "money" that I spent yesterday but there's nothing to show for it now.
There are some extra options on some of the purchases. The beds and the fountain now have 4 options from which to select and there were only 3 when I first went purchased.

I've seen a definite pause between states of the game. If you click the mouse while one of the photos and "Loading" is showing, it will say "non-responding" for a bit and then come back.
It is a bit of a high-resource game. I threw me out of the EMS Cross-Stitch-Board's chat which runs under Java.

MemberGame (and screensaver) feature work well for me - but screensaver has a somewhat negative impact on my PC's graphic driver's operation - I get dark screen mentioned by Teri127 (probably because game is resource-intensive on graphics use). Re-booting computer solved the problem. I know this is a pain, but some games are like that.

I got the Collector's Edition too now. Had something funny happen after I did it , though. Saturday, I had gotten up to the levels where you buy the windmill and fruit trees etc. And somewhere in there you install a hammock. Well, when I edited the xml file to make it the Collector's Edition, all my stuff disappeared as Dragonlair said..BUT the hammock..It was just hanging in mid air with this tiny little bush(soon to be tree)next to it. it looked so funny there.

The hammock isn't a purchase. It's a "build" during the game and you keep your progress in the game. Why the tree disappeared is the odd part. I didn't have to re-plant the tree or anything else. All my activities were still there, just not my purchases. I don't think I had done the hammock yet when I switched.
My friend noticed that once you go "collector's edition", there's a walkthrough "guide" available in the upper right corner when you get to things like building the hammock - or finding/drying the newspaper or several other "builds" during the game.

The tree was still there..it just was so little. It hadn't grown up yet. It just looked so funny..like it was waiting for the tree to catch up..LOL
I haven't had too much time to mess with it since the weather was soooo amazing here, I was out in my REAL gardens..... trimming my bushes and cleaning up etc

So sorry, Roxie/BK. I would have thought someone would have come to your aid by now..BTW what kinda shape is that ball in by now? :) It would be in pieces by now..
Ok I got stuck in the part where they were taking the picture of the tree, Linda, Joe and Tom and the scientist were coming. No matter how many times I clicked on Joe or Tom..they just wouldn't take that dang pic. Finally I closed the game and reopened it. It opened up at the same place( I had to redo all the little jobs..etc) but they took the pic. Same thing happened on one of the HOG sections in Tom's room. I would click on the skateboard and nothing. Had to restart the game.
I am gonna guess since I had been running the game for half a day or more, It just petered out. /me giggles..I guess I shouldn't have my browser open with over 50 tabs..You think?
Anyways, I am on my second farm and just bought the dart board(still don't know why you need a dart board. I have been to lots of farms..no dart boards that I can recall).

About 3 weeks ago I had 84...When I use a browser..I use a browser. But using BarTab helps.

Found some more "bugs", I guess. Are we beta testing now?
On my second farm, the first two match 3 games when I open it up, I see 1 chicken and a turkey. I swear! I would click on it and it would gobble. Then it would go into the hen house..never to be seen again until the next time I opened the game. NTM in one of the "photo's" it shows a DUCK no chicken or turkey. Hasn't happened so far on my 3rd game(which is another bug). I had to close the game and manually go to "My Farm" to select the 3rd farm....It never came up on it's own..just kept adding money every time I played for the second farm.
Last bug..I think. I choose as my veggies..the corn. Half way through the game..they just disappear..totally. Just the beds are there..empty..for the rest of the game.
Oh, I forgot..the wooden box appears by the tree...for no reason.
Any one else???

I just finished the 3rd farm..and I had a strange empty bucket(I don't recall it being used in the game at all) sitting on the ground appear about half way through the game and just sit there by the bee homes..they walked through it all the time.
It it just me..or is anyone else seeing these incidents..or are you having others?
