   So true, Buzz :) I try to minimize the number of products installed on my computer that have similar options. Don't want my system to get too bloated . . .

   Good question.
   I use Revo Pro not only for uninstalling and do some "cleaning" now and then with CCleaner.
   ProcessLasso pro is running and I'm at the moment trying to explore Cacheman.
   In it's beginning I had Soluto https://www.soluto.com/About and will have a look at it again.
   Besides that I use the tools Vista has on board.

   Several machines and Window's versions ago I tried the Ashampoo tool - and killed my system.
   I don't blame Ashampoo for it, but that I blindly trusted in the tool.
   I think that's called: Learning by doing ;)

   Thanks for your list, graylox -- I use some of those as well (CCleaner, ProcessLasso Pro; Revo Free). I'll take a look at Cacheman and Soluto -- thanks for those.

    Graylox,

    I have to ask. If you don't use the Ashampoo products then why promote them? I agree with you concerning their usefulness. I think for most people they are unnecessary and at best a gimmick and at worst dangerous in the wrong hands.

    That's a misunderstanding.
    I do use Ashampoo products, but not this.
    That doesn't say anything about the quality of this programme, only that I don't use it, because I think I don't need it, or just because I'm too lazy to learn something new.
    I prefer to use tools which are specialised for what I need, that can be one tool of a swiss army knife, and the rest of the knife is never used.
    e.g. CCleaner, though an uninstaller is on board, I prefer Revo.
    In the end, most of these programmes have to fit the user, what I like could be impossible for others to use.
    Like most of all computer users I'm not a pro,(good to have a techie-friend - LOL) I would never give a profound review of any software, I can only say what I like or don't like.

    Back to WinOptimizer, my experiences with this programme are several years old, so in no way significant for the "modern" programme; and most likely a user error.

    I actually own an Ashampoo product also, Photo Commander 8 which I got for free. Well "free" comes with strings. Folks just need to be aware of the fact that if you get one of their products be prepared to get inundated with email solicitations from them.

    rta53, I also have some other Ashampoo products and, yes, I do receive occasional offers to upgrade to newer versions. There have been numerous comments and posts about how Ashampoo bombards its users with email, and the reply has always been the same: you can always modify or even unsubscribe from their list. I've never been "inundated" with email from them, so you might consider changing your subscription with them.

    Bombard, inundate. I guess it's a matter of perspective. :)
    Anyway, thanks for the reminder about unsubscribing. Although, I have unsubscribed from sites in the past and still got emails. It just seems to me that sending emails out every other day trying to get someone to buy your product is not a good idea. Makes me not want to buy the product. But maybe I'm just a grumpy old man.

    rta53, now I doubt you're a grumpy old man :) I know some other sites are obnoxious, even after unsubscribing from them; however, I think you'll find that Ashampoo will honor your request. I totally agree with, and have the same reaction as, you on sites that continue to bombard/inundate me with their emails :)
