SnagIt is awesome. As a developer of online technical training for a Texas agency before I retired, I used ver. 7.0 all the time. 7.25 will then be a more recent version for me - so I'm ahead even if I don't upgrade. But it's a good deal;, so I will.
If you don't know SnagIt, it will do still or video screen captures (saved as AVI, if I remember correctly, though you may get other output choices). Stills can be whole screen, active window, or click and drag to select what you want. I could even drop down a menu or open a dialog box, activate SnagIt via a keyboard shortcut, and capture these items, which I couldn't get otherwise.
It's a great program for taking a snapshot of a screen and then marking it up to show others how to use the software you had on the screen. I did the same with little captured videos - not by marking them up, but by adding voice instructions. I guess you could use it to write funny captions on Snagged photos, as well.
Two ways to edit your still captures built into 7.0 allowed me to highlight areas, add text and arrows, draw circles or shapes on the capture, and much more. Stills can be saved in numerous file formats. Different types of captures, including output format, can be saved up with your preferred options and tied to a hotkey of your choice. Very efficient.
I used to add voice-over to my captured movie files. They sounded more professional if I didn't record them "on the fly." I did this with DubIt, which may now be included as part of the SnagIt program by this version. If not, it used to be available from TechSmith for free - or search for it.
That's the short overview. Get it if you don't already have it.
