Its not activating, tried reboot after install and everything. still says trial and expiration date.

MemberThis is a very old version of the software, at least 2 years old (V. 1.6 compared to V 2.4 out now). I would recommend going to their website and getting the personal version. The only difference between personal and pro is pro runs all the time in the system tray, while personal doesn't.
The older version offered here only helps Windows run faster. The newer version does so much more.

Advanced WindowsCare Professional v2.4.1.902 is the version.
I activated it first and then installed file.
Works fine 3 month licence.
It also updated a new definitions file also.

Does there need to be some sense of competency test before letting users submit comments on a giveaway? Maybe I am expecting too much that users might read other posts before having "their say".
Firstly people complaining that an earlier version of this giveaway had already been given away on GOTD before.
Secondly people complaining that this time the product is coming with 3 months of updates (normally giveaways come with zero updates. none. not a sausage).
If anyone knows of another site that is offering a better free deal on AWC Pro - post it in the comments section. I suspect there are a lot of very unhappy people because of such a "rubbish" giveaway.

I cannot understand people!. Perhaps someone needs to come up with software to teach people to read! Everyone is so anxious to jump in and be the first to try out software, perhaps if some of the complainers waited for others to test it and then READ the comments they would do a little less whining!!

MemberI downloaded this software this morning and it is installed version 1.6 from 2 years ago. I just reinstalled it and it is now installing the updated version (2.4).
I know for a fact it installed the earlier version because it said "Merry Christmas" at the bottom of the main page. This made me curious and I checked and it was version 1.6, dated 2005.

UnregisteredTo digress slightly, I personally think some people need to take a computer and internet literacy and 'driving' test before being able to use computers and the net.
If the net is the 'highway' and the puter a 'motor vehicle' then some people would be banned.
I have read those websites which post what has happened when computer users phone the tech support lines.

MemberOK....I read the info and am still stupid (ladybug). I downloaded this program on my laptop without incident. When I downloaded the prgram to my home comuter, It came up as a trial version not allowing me to resolve any of the issues the program discovered. I did incidently, run the update to no avail. Does anybody (without prejudice) anve any ideas for me?

MemberI hope someone will answer a question for me. It has been asked in the comments without a response. I installed AWC Pro during the first GOTD offer. Should I remove the "old" version prior to the install of today's version ?
FYI - I've been using both "Pro" & "Personal" for several months, without any problems. They find items that "Ad-AwareSE" misses & vice-versa...AdAware finds things that AWC missed. - Thanks !Posted 17 years ago # -
You need to unzip all of the files from the zip file you downloaded. Then run "activate.exe" which is one of the programs contained inside the downloaded file.
If you are using winzip, open the file using the classic mode instead of the wizard.
Also before running activate.exe, make sure "Advanced Windows Care" is closed. Check the system tray in the lower right corner of your screen for a green monitor icon. Right click on it, and select exit.

I'd just wanted to thank GOTD for the opportunity to download AWCpro!!! It is very FAST! It doesn't seem to very much CPU at all, and its ease of use is spectacular! The mods in this forum are right, being able to get free updates & upgrades like that (especially off a giveaway) for that long (09-04-07) is just about unheard of. My favorite tool out of it is the registry cleaner. I have used other reg cleaners before (usually 'stand-alones'), but they were not very user friendly. All of AWC is a breeze!

MemberWell, after speaking with iObit support, it seems that when I uninstalled the personal version, which I had been using, this caused the pro version to become unregistered. Normally, the remedy is to simply reenter your registration information. Since this was a one day deal only, there isn't anything they will do for me, so I am back to using the personal version.
Folks, if you have the personal version DO NOT uninstall it. This should have been mentioned somewhere on the information page concerning this issue.

MemberHuh. 90 days or one auto-update, that's what it did to me. Not that I really care, had it a couple days and never got into the 'what it did' at all- fired it up a few days after the giveaway and it blared out the 'update available' spiel.
Like a d****d fool I said OK, and was sent directly to trial. do not pass go, forget the nickel. (the one GAOTD had me download was .901 when I looked, the update was .902, and nothing *I* could figure out brought it back)
So I nuked it all, downloaded the personal version and maybe will reinstall it.
also I sort of agree with the post on the download page saying
"This is NOT free… licence expires in 3 months. Not impressed!"
As the page had the full price listed, while the 'free' account was 1/4 the length of the standard rental-for-updates (and, since the updates eat that....) and when I uninstalled it I got a page offering the *same* period for a 'trial' for *free* well after the install date was gone....
Nope, whatever good points this might have, I didn't have a chance to find them.

MemberWhen a computer says that I usually think the program is crap. Maybe it did something it wasn't supposed to do, that is what I am guessing. I am not an iobit fan and there are many other great utilities out there.

I don't use any of those programs though I did at one time. Good programs, I use Mcafee Virusscan Plus Msn Version (the new version) . It has antivirus, firewall, antispyware, quickclean all in one. I also use the Msn Webroot Antispyware (they fixed that subscription problem I was having with them a couple weeks/months ago) They did something, I don't know what, but it works fine.
If you need a good free antivirus Antivir is great.
The only complaint I had with that antivirus is it became hard to update and sometimes wouldn't update for a couple of days.

UnregisteredI think a clue could be found from what I am about to write.
This program changes a file deeply embeded in windows system files that holds your registration details for the program.
It's not stored in the registry.
So reboot your computer and reinstall the program, make sure it's closed and any instances of it are closed in task manager and reinstall it again and it should work again.

Thanks for your "clue". Unfortunately, after a week, I don't see any evidence that any of the "screamers" are paying attention (their loss). I appreciate you going out on a limb to try to help them (and the rest of us!) out. If you remember, I'm the one who wrote in initially to try to head off the problem when AWC first sent out notice of the available update (about a week ago).
So now, for those of us who have waited for the definitive answer (i.e. haven't downloaded, uninstalled, deleted or overwritten anything!), could someone who has negotiated these waters successfully please offer a step-by-step to update to the new version? I'm sure there are many who would appreciate it. (Lee, I'm guessing that your "fix" begins after the new program has been installed ... ?)
