Which site do you use to buy games. Is there one better than the other. Any site gives better deals than the other.

I usually purchase from Big fish, but to be honest they are all as good as each other. I'd also add alawar to that list and Realore, both of which have contributed many games to the giveawayoftheday community. both now have their own giveaways as well. Alawar generally once a month and Realore every Friday. You need to create a free subscription to get the free Realore games and to get the Alawar game, which is Flowery Vale at the moment you need to install Alawars Gamebox (what i like about gamebox is you can have it scan for all games not just alawar games, The game is is due to change soon. This weeks Realore game is Aqua Words.
Oh yeah by the way, anything to do with games should go in the Gams discussion forms. Swapping it over now.
I have both. Bigfish is great at getting games first and Gamehouse imo is great for your bargain shopper, because they have game pack deals. They both have sales. Bigfish is having one now for new customers. Your first game $2.99 of your choice.
I like them both, but I would cancel Bigfish before I would Gamehouse only because I get 2 games from Gamehouse and you can't sign up for the deal again, but it is up to you.
Bigfish gets games first (most of the time) and Gamehouse has double pack deals. Sometimes triple packs. One time I got a pack from Gamehouse that had 5 games in it for a funticket. I already had another pack that had 3 of those games in it so all I did was exchange, but you can find some good pack deals.
Alawar never gave me the coupon code for buying a game off them in 2011. I will never buy a game off them again and when they sell a good game of their own I will wait till Bigfish or Gamehouse get it. From my experience I can't recommend Alawar.
Gamehouse and Shockwave both have the option of membership where you can download and play as many games as you like while you are a member. You do not own them so if you cancel your membership you can no longer play but if you play games one time only that is a good option. I started having a problem with Shockwave getting the links to open via Firefox and had to use Windows Explorer which was hit and miss. I sent them an e-mail asking about it and never got a response so I did not renew my membership but might try them again in the future. The problem seems to be just on my computer.
You should contact Alawar Michelle and ask for the coupon you say you are owed. They can be very generous. Over the years they have given me a lot of things including a bunch of free games and a coupon that gave me 50% off permanently and as far as I know is still valid (I forgot to use it the other day). I used to be part of their first line of beta testers, we used to have to send reports in and got a full version key for all of the games we tested. They stopped that about 3 years ago and resorted to using club members to beta test and gave a 30% off token for any game they tested. I also used to write a lot of reviews for them. But haven't done anything for them for over 2 years now. I didn't like the new system they started several months ago where you could pay a specific amount to gain access to all of their games, but never actually own any of them. I still play games I purchased years ago, some games I never get tired of. There was a point when they first started the new method of getting games that I couldn't find any way to purchase their games (When Treasures of Montezuma was first released), so I went back to BFG whome i'd stopped buying games from because most new games a few yars ago seemed to be HOG's day after day.
I happened to vist Alawar for the first time in ages the other day because of their return to the giveaway project and discovered they had recently released a new breakout game that was a cross between Magic ball (Smash Ball Frenzy) and Strike Ball. I also discovered that they had returned to making it easier to purchase games so I bought it (Mega World Smash).
I really would contact them again and ask for the coupon, if you explain the situation and tell them you are really unhappy and feel like leaving them, they may even give you some extra stuff. :)
Also I prefer Alawars method of registration as if I do decide I've had enough of the game I can give it to a friend because the code isn't tied to an account. I gave a whole bunch of them away here about 18 months ago. Then again I finally discovered that you can back up BFG games, It took me ages to realize that if I created a desktop icon from the correct executabe and made sure the registration details were still present it would play on any of my computers without having to redownload and register via their servers.
I only own several Gamehouse games plus a load that I originally purchased via Real Games several years ago before they were bought out by Gamehouse.
White I already did that and they never responded. White I want that new game too, but I will not buy it off Alawar.
IMHO we shouldn't exaggerate this lapse, as far as I remember you are referring to a free game you couldn't register; no harm was caused.
I never had any problems with Alawar.

No, I am referring to the game giveaway around Christmas. If you bought a game they gave you a free coupon code only I never got the coupon code.
"no harm was caused."
Speak for yourself. Would you like it if they were giving out coupon codes and you didn't receive your's? I think not.
"I never had any problems with Alawar."
I did.
The thread I'm referring to:

This is no problem you can solve in the GOTD forums.
Alawar was very generous to the GOTD users, we got far more than just one code.
I'm looking forward to a renewed partnership with the GGOTD project.

Is it really worth getting so upset over what is after all a free game that they were offering as a loyalty bonus for purchasing games over the previous year? It's not like you paid for it. I still maintain that if you contact them you will get a response eventually and maybe even extra games as an apology. It could easily have been an oversight. I think Dragonlair didn't get her bonus code initially but when she contacted them they sent her a code. That said it's your prerogative not to bother with them ever again if you feel so aggrieved. I don't mean to upset you over this I just think you could be losing out by not bothering with them again.
Does it also mean you won't accept any of their games given away via the game giveaway project either or is that a different kettle of fish? Surely these games they are going to give away make up for the lack of the free code? (and I can confirm we do have 3 more in the listings with more hopefully to come in the near future).
As I've said countless times I've always got a very fair deal from Alawar and in some cases more than a fair deal. About four years ago I wrote to them cheekily asking for a discount on several games. They replied giving me a 50% off permanent discount code and of the seven or so games I asked for a discount on they only wanted 50% of the cost for two of the more recent games and gave me free registration codes for all of the rest of the games. To me this is the beneficent action of a small games developer/distributor who only has the best interests of their customers in mind.
It's your prerogative not to purchase games from whomever you feel you don't like, so I wont continue further except to say give them one more chance. they are a great developer and distributor of games.; not as big as Gamehouse or Big fish, but in my opinion much friendlier. :)
P.s.
For anyone who likes breakouts and if you liked the later Magic Ball games (that had a name change for some inexplicable reason to Smash Ball Frenzy 3 & 4) and the Strike Ball games (2 & 3), then you'll love the latest breakout Mega World Smash. Not only does it have the best from both games it has the upgradable power-ups like you get in Actionball 2. So far I'm really enjoying playing the game. If you like breakout/arkenoids this will be a great addition to your collection. For those interested in checking it out you can find it HERE.
You can see a couple of videos of Mega World smash HERE and HERE and here are several images.:
Not sure what happened in your case Michelle but I requested the free game from Alawar and had no problem getting it. When did you request it? I got mine on 12/26/11. Possibly there was a time limit.
