Came across the free, portable Game Downloader [ http://www.neowin.net/news/game-downloader-27 ], which hooks you up with a on-line library of 200+ "open source, indie or freeware" games.
In an e-mail this morning Abelssoft advertised their free MyKeyFinder [note this url will start an automatic download http://www.abelssoft.net/d.php?fn=mykeyfinder ]. Similar to utilities from Nirsoft, MyKeyFinder reads Windows & other software keys stored in the registry -- hopefully it won't set off alarms the way Nirsoft apps do with some AV software. While it is free, you need to supply a name & e-mail address to receive a key, & whenever you close MyKeyFinder you get a notice requesting a donation or tip.
Dealnews.com is advertising an offer for a free copy of BDlot DVD Clone Ultimate [ http://dealnews.com/BDlot-DVD-Clone-for-PC-downloads-for-free/548930.html ]. This sort of app may be of more interest for those whose GOTD license of DVDFab expired last month. It's similar to their free BDlot DVD ISO Master [ http://www.videohelp.com/tools/BDlot-DVD-ISO-Master ]. Both apps install their driver providing a virtual DVD drive so you can open/mount ISO DVD images -- DigiartyVirtualCDBus.sys is installed every time the apps are started/run. That's not always a good thing, as to my knowledge there is not a virtual CD/DVD/BD drive setup that's always troublefree for everyone... if you find the DigiartyVirtualCDBus driver causing problems, I'd suggest trying Autoruns to disable it [ http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902 ] -- File menu -> Find "DigiartyVirtualCDBus", since if you delete the file &/or it's registry entries they'll just reappear next time you start either app. That said, if you want to remove the driver's registry keys, search in Regedit for DigiartyVirtualCDBus & MpKslc2da2a38 -- note that you'll have to set permissions (may have to take ownership 1st in win7) for some of those keys.
