One of th things that's been putting me off posting games reglarily over the past several months has been the time it usually takes for me to research, write up, capture or search for images and video, then putting it all together. I thought I'd try a different tack for a change and just post brief details of the games I find, with info copied from the site and I may post images later when I feel I have the time. At least this way I'll probably post more games. I realize that images can speak far more than words, but I'm sure if you're looking for some free games you'll check the threads out anyway even without any images or video to look or watch first?
I will endeavour to add to more information (if needed) to these games that I post as and when I have the time. At least this way I'll start emptying that folder I've mentioned contless times that holds many free games yet to be posted. :)
Conquest of Phobos (25.4MB)
Conquest of Phobos has 26 levels of pure retro-gaming mayhem, puzzles, warps, music, and finger-cramping fun! You can find some screenshots of Conquest of Phobos via a picture link on the main download pageSome of the fondest memories we at exogames have are from the 80's hey-day of 8-bit "vector" video games... Major Havoc, Star Wars, Gravitar, Tempest... Ahhhh, good times. So, if you are like us - children of the eighties - you also spent many an hour of your mis-spent youth standing in dark arcades, hovering over glowing vertical machines and sit-down consoles. Clutching the games' controller and pounding the buttons as quarters jangle in your acid-washed jeans pocket. The images on the games' old cathode-ray tubes were a chaotic maelstrom of shapes and colors, explosions and bonus items. Donkey Kong ruled, Asteroids rocked, and Defender saved the humanoids...
"Wouldn't it be great", we thought,"to bring back the feel of those classics while also updating them to something more complex, more elaborate, and with more action, more explosions, more mayhem... more fun!
So, we did. And the result is Conquest of Phobos.
The Back-Story:
Like all good video games, we have a great back-story to get you in the right mood to play Conquest of Phobos:
The year was 3051 A.D. Earth was nearly decimated by a race of alien mechanoids. Their only goal was the total anihilation of all humans. On the brink of extinction, mankind came together and created a digital virus lethal only to the mechanoids. A probe was sent back to Mars that wiped them all out. The constant, chattering signals from Mars stopped. Mars was silent for years. Until another signal started... This time, the signal was not coming from Mars... It was coming from Phobos: the largest moon of Mars. A small outpost of mechanoids had somehow cured the virus and were preparing to attack one last time... Now you must penetrate the alien complex and destroy the last bastion of the alien invasion forever!...
