I seem to have a problem leaving a comment on software the day after I download it.
I have left comments for a couple of games, but they don't take.
Leaving Comments on Software

Without knowing what the comments are - it's really impossible for me to say why.
Provided the comments are related to the software - perhaps along the lines of a review of your opinion on the program - your comments probably have the most chance of appearing.
There doesn't seem to be any hard or fast rules to guarantee a comment appearing. The comments section is probably more like writing a letter to the editor of a newspaper. Some letters get published, others don't.
The comment section used to run like a free for all with everything from helpful software reviews - to arguments, abuse, criticism of things totally unrelated to the days giveaway - so I think the admins are trying to be a little more selective with what comments appear.
Of course if you have a question or a problem with the software (or something else) - these forums are the place to be.

I get the same thing. Comments are obviously watched. I gave negative comment about a software a few weeks ago, basically stated I didn't like it and that I used it and uninstalled it. After that, no matter what comments I left, they never took. Both postive and negative I then emailed GOTD and the next day one comment made it.
Since then, I have been unable to leave any comments. I assume if you leave a negative comment you get banned from leaving anymore comments.

Another possible cause the admins have pointed out - If you have sent several comments at once (or within a short period of time), and our antispam software blocked them, this happened before.

I know for a fact that negative comments about the software get posted as well. I've read them myself. The only time I think comments would be more likely to be deleted is if the comments start to get personal or critical of other posters. As long as the posts are civil and make a point reasonably clearly they should be fine.
Remember a negative or critical comment is useful too if it suggests ideas that allow the developers to improve their software. Constructive criticism can be very valuable in improving a product or idea. Being negative or nasty for the sake of it though, doesn't help anyone and just makes the poster look like a jerk.

Hi BuBBy,
Can you tell me why a couple apps I listed on the forum here http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/684/page/2 were edited out. I didn't make note of the ones I listed at the time because I was in a hurry the other day when I posted them. But they were 'all' freeware!
Another question is, why am I only able to make one posted comment about offerings in the Freeware Library? Here's the link to the software/page in question http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/freeware/2006/09/05/darts/ . To start with, the title was not an option and was NOT created by me. It just appeared!! Then after a bit I attempted to post an update to inform folks that this dart game could be dwnldd to their PC, but it dwnlds as a .zip file and in truth it's an .swf file which comes up "corrupt" or "no archive" when extracting. I attempted to explain what's what to all with an updated posting (how to dwnld it via right click and change extension etc.; left clicked dwnld link just loads game in browser) and it would NOT post a second comment! I attempted several times with no luck. Even went back and tried the next morning and it wouldn't post either. Makes absolutely no sense! At the least there should be an edit option such as here in the forums for ones comments in the game library.
I'm wondering if this is a sys/server glitch, or if this is the default way of doing things there. Please reply or PM me. Thanks.
Regards... :)
PS... Can you or someone edit/remove the title to the posting noted above for the dart game? I DIDN'T place it, it makes no damn sense, and makes me look like an unintelligible bonehead.
I just tried to post there again a few minutes ago with the same results... nothing. Just drops/deletes the post when I click 'submit'.

I removed only the mention of AP Tuner which is Shareware as stated on their website: This is a shareware product: if you consider the tuner useful to you, please pay for it.
In terms of the comment in the freeware library - I'll pass your comments on - it's obviously a bug. The Comment title - it's the title of another program shown on the page. Again a bug. I'm suprised nobody has mentioned this before (It's obviously wrong).

OK, my oversight and apologies for the 'AP Tuner' posting. Just grabbed some links at random from my collection without realizing that one wasn't freeware. Thanks for catching it. I'll pay more attention in the future.
Thanks too for the help with the posting issue. Can you at least edit/remove the post title so I don't come off sounding like a complete moron? Thanks. As well if you'd be kind enough to notify me_(PM) when the posting issue is fixed in the freeware library I'd appreciate it. I know your busy and can't cater to individual requests purse`, but considering I brought it up and would like to update it that would be very nice of you.
Regards
