Ha ha, it was pretty much my bed time by the time I replied. But for £3.74 it’s probably worth getting it for him, and selling on the disc set. All three discs (Oblivion, Shivering Isles and The Knights of the Nine are still in mint condition because I started using no DVD patches around the time I got Oblivion, so the discs once used to install the game were never re-used. The packaging for Oblivion wasn't in the standard DVD box, but one of those paper boxes, which I didn't like, but then it was a gift from an old friend who purchased it in america. I bought a few games while in florida and they also came in paper boxes rather than the standard DVD boxes. I don't know whether that's common over in the Us or just a fluke thati got all my a,erican versions in paper boxes. It was a deluxe set that contained a nice map and a medal with the Oblivion symbol on it plus the sound track. Then again I think the standard game came with a map. Shivering Isles also came with a large map as well.
If your Motherboard supports crossfire you could possibly consider buying another ATI HD3840. The following is available for £47 HERE, though I'm not entirely sure whether different manufacturers of the same card (that is using the same chip, but the outward appearance of the cards look different) would work. You would have to research it. But using a crossfire would double the RAM and extend the life of your cards for a couple more years maybe. I presume the card you have has 512MB of RAM?
My last card, a NVIDIA 8800 GTX had problems running Crysis when I maxed out the settings, but only when there was several enemy firing at me and something blowing up, but then it only had 256MB of RAM. What was it that disappointed you about Crysis? The only thing I felt spoiled the game was the presence of Aliens. The conflict between the player and the Korean units I thoroughly enjoyed as well as the destruction physics and the semi open world nature of the game. As for the latest version of Crysis, I've not enjoyed playing it at all and from what I've read a lot of others have felt the same. It wasn't the blockbuster that the original was. It's probably that the FPS genre has become flooded with so many games over the past several years it's starting to feel tired. I always revert back to ArmA II when I'm in the mood for some decent FPS action. As I've said before it’s not a run and gun game and there's no fabulous cut scenes like you get with Activisions masterpieces, but it's solid game play with a different sort of realism.
I almost purchased a Solid State Drive from Ebuyer a few weeks ago, but found the same model cheaper elsewhere; but I was generally impressed with their prices so will be checking Ebuyer more often now.
Thanks to BuBBy and Bently for the discussion on safe buying. I won't be using EBay again for purchasing Steam keys. To be honest, with the number of games I get regularly, I was intending to wait till the Christmas sales for Arkham City. Who knows I may even get one free when I purchase my video cards. That would be annoying, lol.
