   That's the claim made by music site Side-Line which says it heard whispers that the end of the CD is nigh from music industry insiders.
   Eventually the format will become extinct.

   I doubt it. Cd would most probably replaced by DVD but even that hasn't happened completely yet. A Hard copy for backups is always required & as long there is market for VCD it won't go away.

   You can STILL purchase 3.5" Floppies AND floppy drives! You can't get 5.25" or larger anymore that I know about but almost nothing completely goes away! As long as there are products that use them, they'll be available but maybe not new ones.

   Don't think it will happen that soon. I still buy music on CDs.

   if you read it said Eventually the format will become extinct like one day ? 10 Years time may be ? for cd, but for music we see ?
   After all, CDs are still popular - just about
   confirmed that it will stop designing and selling CD players from next year to focus on streamers, although its legendary turntables will continue.
   In the 1990s, not long after telling us that Home Taping Was Killing Music, the music business had doubled in size.

   no fun to download on dial-up it take a week for one CD
   and new car now come out with out cd dvd player

   STILL purchase 3.5" Floppies Yes but new PC not have on the PC so it end like the "5.25"
