Firefox 7.0 was released today and yes, browsing is really fast and the browser's memory management has reached a new level but...
are we in a rush to get our old version updated?

Personally I'll stick to my old -and- stable version 3.6.22 for a bit longer (and I'm running Firefox ~~(4,5,6.02)~~ 7 as a portable version ),mainly because some of the addons I grew accustomed to use, are not compatible ...unless I buy new software.

Just wondering if we all follow the update craze or stick to our old version for better and for worse..
and/or maybe if "install.rdf" editing did solve compatibility issues for some of your addons.

Yep, this old girl dared to update to 7.

Some time ago I had problems because I lost some add-ons - but meanwhile everything I lost then is included or even better in the new Firefox. Well, I hope LinkmanFox will be updated soon.
At the moment I'm building tab groups and I already love the "AppTab". Maybe I can skip "TabMixPlus" now.
Did you try Add-on Compatibility Reporter?
I could enable some add-ons with it in the past.
At the moment there is only one app that uses this help: Text Formatting Toolbar 0.1.4.12

You do know that you can back-up with MozBackup ?

You mean, I just spent 3 hours, Saturday, updating all the computers to Version 6. Man, this is getting annoying. Now, I got to do it again...grumble, grumble, grumble!

May wait a while. I set up separate profiles on the spare one so we each have our OWN FireFox even if we have to use the spare one for some reason. So I actually set up 4 browsers. Thank god for my FEBE backups. 37 addons and they all work. But I forced them with Add-on Compatibility Reporter. I can't live without my BarTab.

It's getting kind of stupid. They're using the major version number change where it should be a minor update - like to 6.1, not 7.0!

I did update and I'm kind of glad I did. I thought that the game I did the other day didn't affect FF but it did, it just wasn't visible.

They're talking about slowing the development cycle back down, more like it used to be & less like Google's Chrome. Won't help everyone that has or will update to 7, but maybe it'll give hope for the future. :-)

Most addons seem to be working just fine on FF7,but...

there seems to be an issue in which some users may have one or more of their addons hidden after upgrading to the latest Firefox version.
(the add-ons remain intact though)

A fix is to be expected soon.

In the meantime Mozilla released an add-on (...),thus providing a simple workaround to recover hidden addons.

Add-on Recovery Tool
(USE WITH CAUTION,so backup your addons first)

I guess the best thing to do would be to wait for a couple of days ,until the issue is resolved.

FF 3.6.23 was released too.

Read the comments made by the users too, maybe this will help.

I'll try the "install.rdf" hack. But I doubt that this will help for commercial add-ons like Linkman and StickyPassword. Both need some days for an update. :(

After Firefox Versions 7, 8 & 9; Firefox Version 10 (Beta) is now available.

If you prefer the Portable Edition of Firefox, get a previous version released on the the Beta Channel and update it to version 10 (Beta).

Go to options - advanced - update ,and untick "automatically check for updates" "Firefox".
As for now ,only version 3.6 still updates its own version (latest is 3.6.25 ) and don't push version 9.1.

Some companies like TechSmith (Snagit) even stopped releasing updated add-ons
(I can't blame them really, it takes a lot of work trying to catch up with the frequency new versions of FF are launched).
Not really appreciated by some ...so it's a knife that cuts both ways.

Still working with a portable version of 3.6.25 and 8 (next to version 9.1), to enjoy some of my favorite addons.
