I've been using "Software Informer" to tell me about the GOTD for months now (since e-mail has proven unreliable). It's been working ok until last Friday, 09/16. Even when I do a "manual refresh," it comes up blank. Any suggestions? Thank you!
"Software Informer" hasn't shown the GOTD since last Thursday.

Whoever updates the software informer on the giveaway site hasn't been doing a particularily good job of it over the past week. Sometimes it's taken over 14 hours for suggestions to show. Don't know whether this is becasue of a shortage of manpower to moderate or whether there is other problems afoot.

riverboatsam, here's what I do "since e-mail has proven unreliable" -- I signed up for email notifications back in April 2007 and, once in a great while, I don't receive one. So . . . I never delete a giveawayoftheday email until I receive the current day's GotD email. Then, if todays' GotD email is in my Inbox, I delete yesterday's email. If no GotD email is in my Inbox, I just click on the link at the bottom of yesterday's GotD email, and that will open the browser with today's giveaway. Either way, I always have one GotD email in my Inbox until the next one. I haven't missed a giveaway yet (knock wood !!)

I had this problem at first, then I stopped using the email service (and would check the website everyday) but then I signed up for email agian, and it's been working ever since, thank God.

I don't bother with the email service as it’s just as easy to open the giveaway site to check what's on offer. I visit the forums every day (since I joined the forums in Feb 2007), so it’s a simple matter to just click the link to the giveaway section when I'm done with the forums.
I wasn't bothered about the forums when I first discovered the giveaway project back in early December 2006 (there was an arkanoid game that was on offer called Arkanoid: The Virtual Isls - which I’ve still got because it was a free standing game - I did have a licenced copy, but lost the reg code when i lost one of my free emails due to inactivity, so couldn't recover the licence, so in the end was glad to get a free standing version). I only found it because I'd been searching for more arkanoids (which at the time were my favourite genre of arcade game, which I only played as a break from the bigger games like Battlefield 2, Tom Clancy games and other shooters) so the name Arkanoid: The Virtual Isles came up in my search. (It was given away almost a year later via the GameGiveaway project as well. Since then I've hardly missed a day visiting (sad really, lol) the giveaway project apart from when I was really ill and when I had to go in hospital plus vacations, but even then I'd quickly check in our hotels internet cafes and since 2009 we've always got a connection to our hotel rooms and I take a laptop, so usually checked each morning. (How sad again, lol).
Thankfully I no longer download every giveaway like I used to in the first year of the project.
