since yesterday with Glary Utilities I have been getting NSIS and integrity errors with the download. As someone else reported it yesterday I am assuming it might be a more general problem.
running win 7 64 bit.
I have tried several downloads and get the same problem each time. Tried downloading and unzipping on a different machine (where the install worked fine), and got the same problem on my PC.
has anything changed with your download ?

Mike, I used to get NIS Sonar blocking many downloads from GotD and other sites, so here are a couple of suggestions (from when I used NIS 2012):
NIS 2012 (I posted on GotD):
1) Create a subfolder called, for instance, “NIS Excludes” within a ‘Downloads’ folder (my designated folder for downloads).
2) Open NIS > Settings > Computer > Antivirus & SONAR Exclusions: “Items to Exclude from Scans:” click on ‘configure’
3) “Add” the entire path of this new subfolder; click Add, Apply, OK
4) Next, on the same page, for “Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, Sonar …:” click on ‘configure’
5) Again, add the entire path of this subfolder; click Add, Apply, OK
Whenever you download a GotD program (or have another file zapped by SONAR), download it into this subfolder. NIS will exclude anything in that folder from being scanned.
An Alternative (also posted on GotD):
If Norton Sonar blocks startup of the installer you can override it as follows:
- Right click the Norton Security Suite icon in the System Tray and select “View Recent History”.
- Select “SONAR Activity” from the show dropdown.
The event should be listed.
- Click “More Details” at the bottom right
- Click “Options” at the bottom
- Click “Restore This File”
- First un-check “Exclude this risk from future scans” and then re-check it.
- Click “Yes”
- Wait for the process to complete
- Close all Norton screens
Setup should now work properly.
Sometimes, you just have to disable SONAR for 15 minutes . . .
I don't know if either of these will help, but good luck.

Mike, as you've determined, there's something not quite right with your PC.
You didn't mention when you last successfully installed a giveaway but if it was before the latest MS Updates from last week then you might uninstall those updates and see if one of them is the source of the problem.
If not, since you have access to other computers I'd download and unzip the latest giveaway on one of them and copy the files back to the problem PC. Then reboot, opening no programs, and try to install using the "Run" box (Windows Key + R). If that works then you've got an issue with something that runs after your PC starts (your browser, a browser plug-in, your unzip utility, etc).
If still no luck, try installing in "Safe Mode" as a diagnostic (uninstall if successful). If it installs in "Safe Mode" but not "Normal" then you can use Autoruns to find the differences in the boot process and hopefully isolate the issue. I can give you more detailed instructions if desired.

it worked ok in Safe Mode. I am reasonably sure its Kaspersky causing the problem.
I don't have Kaspersky, so don't know how much this will apply or be of any use, but the way I have to turn off Bitdefender when it decides it doesn't like something is to go into Safe Mode, disable the service, then go back into win7 proper. Turning off active scanning, or the AV completely doesn't do it. Of course when/if it works in Safe Mode it's quicker/easier to just do whatever install there.
At any rate, if you do get into troubleshooting & want to verify that it is Kaspersky, maybe that'll help? If you turn it off so it won't start with Windows, & the GOTD works, I'd think that a great indication Kaspersky was at fault.
