Pirates Vs Ninjas (2Mb)
Have to post this one, given the game giveaway today, as this one is partly similar, but to my mind Pirates Vs Ninjas has more inventive levels, you can accidentally sink or blow up your ship, and you fire either cannon balls or timed bombs. It also seems to play much better, and is generally much more fun! You also don’t have to scroll the screen, which is a decided advantage! Lastly, there are proper sound effects, not the ridiculous word Boom on the screen for explosions in the game giveaway!
You play 30 levels as Pirates and 30 levels as Ninjas. Some of the later levels require very accurate shooting, and you are given a par score for each of the 60 levels after playing the level. My record is 60 shots where the par is 20 (Uh-Oh!), second attempt rather better! You can replay levels you have completed, and unlock further levels as you progress. The difficulty of levels does vary and after a very difficult one you ‘might’ get a much more straightforward one.
The animations are a lot of fun, and the game is tremendously funny at times! Ninjas have a health bar and it may take more than one hit to finish them off. The aiming system is very good, no power bars, just point- and-click. Nearer your ship= less power, further away=more power, with the position setting the direction of the shot. There’s a wind factor involved, along with the motion of your ship affecting shots. Obstacles can hinder or be sometimes used to help with your shots.
Some levels have indestructible items, and there are various mechanisms to set in motion, including springs later on to bounce your cannon balls or bombs off. There’s booty to shoot for higher scores, and captives later on to avoid, as if they die you will lose the level. The Ninja master and Pirate captain can’t be killed by direct hits, only by knocking them off-screen, into spikes or into the water. Cannon balls and bombs trajectories can take them off-screen and sometime back onto screen at a further location. You can also bounce your cannon balls or bombs off whales, or use their water spouts to assist! If you can feed your enemies to the Kraken later on, you will get a bonus score.
The only thing that jars is the silly (but sometimes funny) 'insult' messages from your ship at the start of the levels. The music and sound effects are jolly and fun. The graphics are suitably bright and jolly to match.
You can play online HERE or HERE or download the game with the download link below. It’s a .swf file once extracted, so will play in most media players or the (free) Swiff player, in a resizable window, or you can open it with your browser, and of course play it offline if you wish.
The walkthrough in-game links to another flash game website which has the YouTube walkthroughs posted, or you can find the video walkthroughs for all of the levels directly on YouTube HERE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8n_LrxjSps and HERE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGfd_E6kLhU
Hilarious at times, especially when you sink your own ship!
