Hi Adrian, I'ce changed the title of your thread to reflect the problems i had so as not to fill the forums with several different threqds on this software. hope you are okay with that. :)
I’m now a little dubious about installing this software on my computer firstly because by default it wants to change my home page to it’s own web page and makes my search engine change (if I don't uncheck the boxes), plus I get security warnings from two different security software’s (Mamutu and Immunet), Mamutu says that the software downloads data invisibly from the internet (I wasn't using the giveawayoftheday wrapped executable, but a clean exe) and the second warning (from Immunet) was of a W32.Trojan.9e1e. Then Mamutu throws up another warning saying that the program behaves in a similar manner to certain Spyware (LAN bypass backdoor). Hmmm very suspicious.
( though I admit I'm no security expert so these could all be false positives)
However, on installing the software to a less well protected secondary computer (I've not got around to re-installing my start up software) I found that the program had, despite unchecking the boxes during the installation wizard it had still installed the Radio toolbar together with two other folders in my program files folder.
Thankfully I have a decent start-up program (Anvir Security suite) on my main computer that enabled me to block such underhanded behaviour.
The developer should be ashamed at allowing this. I’m certainly not going to reinstall this software after all the warnings and attempts to install toolbars even when I’ve said I don’t want them. Disgusting behaviour
Oddly when I installed this the last time it was given away it didn’t give any warnings.

I installed trial version from the manufacturer and activated. It works. Username: Gaotd.

Hi all, please read my comments on the main download page - users must click the "decline" button in order to ensure the toolbars are not installed. This is in addition to placing checkmarks (and opting out of) the toolbar boxes.
So, in summary, the toolsbars will not install on your PC if you follow instructions carefully.

Please help. There are several NCT files, mostly for media handling, & today's GOTD includes 10 of them. They're all a bit older [abandonware?] & there have been several reports quite a while back of them not wanting to work in Vista. A few apps that have been on GOTD use these files. To register "NCTAudioEditor2.dll" 1st locate it in Windows' system folder, then register it manually -- I use RegDrop.exe, but Google/Bing for a lot of ways to go about it... there's a registry key you can add for example that adds registering files to the right-click context menu.
Note that one of the minor hassles of running win7 64 is you have two system folders, one 32, & one 64 bit, each with it's own regsvr32.exe app -- generally need to run either as admin.
Note also that while they work pretty well, the NCT files are Direct X [e.g. Direct Show etc.], meaning they can effect how Windows handles media, including breaking stuff. If that happens you can usually rename or remove them, but there is a [IMHO slight] chance they'll take over for some other file that previously did the same job -- in that case the old file will have to be re-registered either manually or by re-installing the app that installed/registered the old file in the 1st place.

Hi Whiterabbit
I took too long playing around with alternatives for recording playing audio since I already had the XP Mode VM connected to my USB audio toy, dug out the in ear phones etc. 'Cause of that don't know if I made the cutoff, if this will be posted in comments or not, so at the risk of duplication -- please feel free to delete -- here's what I found if you wanted to remove the toolbar off your 2ndary rig:Removing the Conduit Toolbar if installed [as monitored in the XP Mode VM]... After uninstall via Add/Remove apps in Control Panel, folders Conduit, ConduitEngine, & FreeOnlineRadioPlayerRecorder remain in both User\ Local\ Application Data\ & Program Files. Several registry keys are left over also -- searching in Regedit for "conduit", "freeonlineradio", & "Toolbar.CT2737658" should lead you to all of them. Uninstalling Cool Record Edit Pro does remove the added NCT files, but try to remember that you may not want to remove them if you have other software that relies on either those files or the job they do.

I just posted this on the front page
Dunno how long it will take to pass moderation, or if it will at all
**************WARNING*************
John #47 is indeed right. There is a conflict w Advanced Audio Recorder !!
If anybody cares to go to this page
hxxp://www.giveawayoftheday.com/advanced-audio-recorder-602/
See comments #11, 20, 75, 85 on that page
You will see there has been a lot of problems between this program and Advanced Audio Recorder.
The 2 can not coexist, as Cool Record Edit invalidates the license of the other
Of course it's your choice of which to keep....@Inas
Thank you Inas for posting your findings!!
That must have helped quite A LOT of ppl!!Posted 13 years ago # -
