   This is not related to other virus problem (happened before Google hijack virus).

   Live mail stopped loading with an error message. Uninstalled AVG as AVG said the main Live Mail exe was infected. (Submitted the Live Mail exe elsewhere and it checked out as clean, thumbs down to AVG). Uninstalled Live Essentials and Live Mail completely (had to research that!). Reinstalled Live Mail via Essentials, worked fine. Reinstalled AVG, live Mail not working. Did this a few times to make sure and after numerous reboots, have given up on AVG until AVG get themselves sorted. It's definitely an AVG problem, not Windows Live!

   Installed Microsoft Security Essentials (free to genuine Windows users) to provide AV protection. Now have Live mail back unhindered by AVG! And probably a faster PC!

   Chazzo,

   I removed AVG several years ago when it got to be too much of a resource hog. That could be your Live problem. I even had one game that had a special "Win Display" with music playing. The game worked but the Win Display kept failing. When I removed AVG and went to Avira, even that problem went away.

   I've not tried Microsoft Security Essentials but I'm hearing some good things about it so I may try it if Avira starts giving me headaches (beyond a higher than expected number of false positives).

   Microsoft Security Essentials although slow at scanning comes with a resident shield and gives a low number of false positives.

   I've mostly preferred AVG to Avira or Avast until now, though AVG has had major issues before with false positives for important programs. This one is a deal breaker though, as I much prefer Live Mail to Outlook so it's Bye to AVG for now! I'm not having my main Email program messed around with! :)

   I had that with Panda Security but set it to std on Email ok but hight not work at all, some time a go AVG not work at all one time had two PC's boot up and AVG not run at all can start and it keep runing ok so put Avast on and all was ok.

   Hi Dragonlair, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) for a couple of months now on the recommendation of another giveaway community member and recommend it. If you have more than one computer you could run it just on one of them until you've satisfied yourself to it's integrity (wrong word, but can't think of the word I'm looking for, lol). It's unobtrusive and has so far worked very well (though like most freebies it's not perfect).

   If you are concerend about the impact your security software has on your memory resources you could always opt for a free cloud based security software like Immunet (now version 3) that is light on memory usage. (It was originally mentioned in these forums several weeks ago). I've been testing Immunet on one of my computers and so far have been quite happy with it. You can find details and a download link HERE and reviews HERE and HERE (I couldn't find a negative review of Immunet; however I didn't search throughly)

   The only downside ( I can think of) about MSE, is it does not support 64-bit systems - or, at least, I have not been able to find a 64-bit version of it :(
