Thank you for letting us know Michelle. I love Realore games (particularly Roads of Rome 1 and 2, Island Tribe 1 and 2, and the Farm Mania series) and unfortunately have most of them. But, having bought them through BigFish Games, if they have an unlock code and you don't have to go through a game manager like BigFish's, then I'm there.
I'm intrigued by the 'ad' they have in the middle of their Home page, advertising a game called Jane's Farm, where the farm is set in the 1930s. That ad has been there a fair while now, do you know anything more about the game?

I can't get to the page! I keep getting the message that Firefox can't find the server. I know I've had internet problems all night but I get to everything else (for now).
I finally got it! Do you have to join their "club" to get it?

I have no idea and I am guessing the free game will only be available on that day and it probably isn't for redownload.

Thanks Michelle, will definitely be visiting every Friday. We used to get some good games from realore via the game giveaway project. :)

You don't need to join the club to get the game.
The game is for download just while it is offered.Posted 13 years ago # -
Are there any nasties like advertising, toolbars, wrappers....?
Or is it pure joy? It's still soooo long until Friday :)

:)
There is a toolbar, but you can uncheck the box (carefully - you have to click twice)
and it will not install.
So, it will cause no problems for your computer.
Friday will be here before you know it. ;)Posted 13 years ago # -
Hopefully it's not Age of Japan 1 or 2, I have both of them and I am stuck in both of them since a couple of years :(
Though I like both of them (it's a love-hate relationship).Posted 13 years ago # -
It was Age of Japan II last week, and Age of Japan the week before that.
So, it might turn out to be one you have ... but likely it won't be either of those. :)
I like both of them, too! I finished the first one - but not the second.Posted 13 years ago # -
OK, it's Friday - Where do I find the Friday Free Game? I see the ad for it but no game.

The only thing I see is FREE LITE VERSION of Jane's Hotel FOR ANDROID! but I don't think that's what Michelle is talking about. Has anyone found this yet?

I found the page where the free game is supposed to be but it's last week's game and is not "clickable". It's after noon, what kind of time zone are they on or are they stopping this thing. That's a bummer!

Perhaps every means 'every so often' Friday. I certainly couldn't find any download link for a Realore game for free today Friday.
I've emailed their support and am 'eagerly' awaiting their reply!
Doesn't do their customer relations a lot of good, does it! :(
Posted 13 years ago # -
I emailed their support, too. It says it may take 48 hours to get a response - that doesn't help with a one day offer either!
Posted 13 years ago # -
I forgot to check last night, had one of my buisiest weeks in the last few years so was oblivious of virtually everything. :)
Posted 13 years ago # -
Did anyone track this down? I looked everywhere I could see, and couldn't find any sign of it. I also tried various options on Google search, but that didn't help either.

I haven't received any reply from Realore support seeing as I couldn't find a free Realore game last Friday (not very satisfactory of them to say the least!), but will check this Friday to see If there's a free game.
Not holding my breathe though!

I haven't heard either but it said 48 hours and I assumed that to be "business days" so I don't expect a reply until tomorrow, at least. I'm getting the same lack of response from Alawar because, for the second month in a row, there is NO free game (not even a hold-over from the previous month). I emailed them and they said 1 day.

Talking of Alawar, I've always been a big supporter of Alawar games, partly because of their registration system, but also because they have given me a lot over the years. I used to write comments about most of the games I purchased from them, which led to them sending me a package three Christmas' back that included some goodies (still got the Magic Ball 3 clock and mug, lol). They also gave me a permanent 50% off all games as I'd bought quite a lot of games and had written to them asking for some discounts. I then Beta tested for them for about 18 months that resulted in getting loads of free games.
Unfortunately they have just brought in this new system which basically won't let you buy their latest games. Instead you can subscribe for a specific period ranging from a week, month, three months, six months to a year which gives you unlimited access to all of their games for that period. It's not cheap and at the end of your time you either pay another whopping great fee or lose everything. That may be okay for those who like to play a game in it's entirity then dump it; but I like to revisit all of my games once in a while. I'm still playing games I purchased in 1991 (for example Darklands and Brix).
I only found this out when I went to purchase the latest Treasures of Montezuma 3 which was released last week, but wasn't able to find a buy button.
I contacted them and they said it will only be the exclusive games that you can't purchase; apparently most of the catalogue is still open to purchase. Basically the exclusives are all the best and most recent releases. So I was forced to purchase elsewhere (BFG). I doubt I'll be buying from Alawar again unless they change this stupid system. You're talking something like $200 for a years unlimited access. That would buy you at least 30 full version games (or more if you buy from Steam during a sale).
p.s.
Although the latest iteration of Treasures of Montezuma is okay and has quite a few elements being carried over from previous versions I don't think it's as good. Levels end much quicker than previously. You get a minute to create as many matches as you can then the level ends (unless you get one of the time adding power ups). I powered through 10 levels in less than 15 minutes, which is far too fast for my liking. Unless later levels have a longer timee period this new game will be ended before you've got into it properly. I must have played the first one for well over 50 hours over the first hyyear of it's release; there wasn't a day went by without me booting the game up for a short go, and I still play the first one. the second was basically the same as the first and is as good, but this third one is not in the same class despite having most of the bells and whistles.

Back on topic - there is a free game today - "Treasure of Persia". Just use the 2nd link in the base post and then download. I have not yet installed but I did not have to register or sign in or anything else - just click on one of 2 download points.
This game is a puzzle match 3 that was offered here some years ago. In fact, checking my records, ALL my Realore games are from GOTD!
This is an opportunity to replace it with a form that is much more likely to port to another machine if needed.

Note for the install of these games. They "recommend" a toolbar just like everybody else, it seems. They also want to set your default search engine and your home page.
You have to click the box by the toolbar twice to skip it. The first time unchecks the search engine and home page checks and the second one unchecks the toolbar itself.
It's a clean install otherwise. I don't see any sign of adware (at least not yet) but you do seem to have to uninstall the old GOTD version first to get it to work right. NOTE - a simple uninstall leaves a lot of old files around but it does not leave anything (if anything was there in the first place) in the registry. I used Revo-Uninstall to remove the old version first.

Most of the realore games that we got can be ported if needed, tohugh the agreement you made by installing the game and accepting the conditions would mean you were breaking the agreement if you did copy the game to another computer.
Do watch out when you are installing these games. You need to uncheck the tick boxes that ask if you want your home page changing to Realores home page or allow a Realore toolbar to be installed. Much like games from Gametop and sometimes MyPlayCity; however you don't get the home page opening when you shut the game down.
I wonder if this new deal by Realore means we won't be getting any more free games from them?

There is a free game today, 'Treasure of Persia' which is a very good 3D puzzle type match three game, similar to some freeware games. :)
As WR says, untick the homepage change and toolbar install boxes when installing the game!

Did anybody read my posts? I said the same thing that WR and Chazzo said first! :-)
Posted 13 years ago # -
Dragonlair, I read your post :-)
Thanks for the tip/instructions to click twice to decline the toolbar. Most only require 1 click .... without your post, I might not have noticed that a second click was needed and gotten an unwanted toolbar.Michelle, thanks for the initial post about the free game on Fridays :-)
Posted 13 years ago # -
Don't worry, Dragonlair. Apparently, nobody reads my posts either. :) Including you. ;) I already mentioned clicking twice to deny the toolbar a week ago, although not with quite such a nicely detailed description. :)

Sorry Scarlet, I did see your post but since there wasn't a game last week (never did find out why), I didn't go back that far when I did finally get a game. BTW - I just checked and the download links are STILL there from yesterday. I wonder what time zone they're in?
Posted 13 years ago # -
I don't know - but, at least previously, they've left the game up for the full weekend.
They originally gave away first Aquatic of Sherwood and then Tiny Cars II before they began advertising the "Free Friday Game". The first week they offered Kit & Ellis; then they missed a week. Then Age of Japan I was followed by Age of Japan II; last week they missed again, and this week, as you've said, it was Treasure of Persia.
